Thursday 17th April 2014 6.30pm - Leeds at Night - Sunset 20:06

Discover the secrets of Night Photography in Leeds, light trails technique and understanding the city lights as it gets dark. Night shots are best done at dusk rather than 'at night', the last bluish hues of the daylight play well against the artificial lights you get in towns and cities. There can be plenty of clutter in the city, road signs, company logos, traffic lights, bins, people etc. This course is designed to get you to see the city differently and when best it is to capture it, its a short course at 2.5hrs but the main aim is to help you understand the key elements to a good night shot which is simplicity and perfect lighting. As always, I talk to you about what can be done in post processing after you've maximised the amount of digital data in your source image - £30 2.5hrs.
Please contact me to reserve a place

Tuesday 29th April 2014 7pm - Malham Sunset and Star Photography Course - Sunset 20:28

If we're lucky and the skies are clear we will be blessed with starry skies as this is a new moon. This is a great place for night shots as there is little light pollution. Whilst its light, we will aim to get some good solid late sun photographs and work on controlling the dynamics of the light and land, maybe using filters to help us. At sunset we can use the fading light to our advantage next to water where silhouttes and shapes are your best friend. When all the light has been used up we will make our way to Gordale Scar and photograph it in total darkness, something thats proved really exciting on previous visits. A totally new way to photograph a classic scene. Our cameras will be using high ISO's, long exposures and will be focusing manually.   £45 4 hrs. Please contact me to reserve a place

Wednesday 4th Jun 2014 7.30pm - 3 Peaks and Ribblehead Viaduct - Sunset 21:31

Yorkshires largest peaks, a classic railway viaduct at the height of late night summer. Parking at the well known car park at the side of Blea Moor Road we will work in and around the area by the viaduct. The plan is to work through technique and optimising your shots whilst its daylight and then as the sun drops behind the viaduct, be ready for the best light, making sure you've chosen your position and foreground well. This course will please your camera no matter if it rains or shines as the sheer beauty and ruggedness comes out in your photos. Friday 13th June 2014 8pm- Sunset and Moonrise at Saltwick Bay, Whitby - Sunset 21:34

The sunset and moonrise are at exactly the same time on this day, we will arrive in good time to photograph the sunset, unusual to photograph the sunset on the east coast but Whitby faces north so it's possible at this time of year and then the moonrise will offer another light source for us to work with, all being well - £45 4 hrs.  Please contact me to reserve a place

Wedensday 18th June 2014 8pm - Yorkshire Dales Arncliffe & Littondale - Sunset 21:41

Even without a camera, its great to be on the hillside above Arnciffe, the valley has many a fine view. Plain and simply, I like it here, it stands for all the Yorkshire Dales has to offer, Limestone pavements, long valleys, meandering rivers, trees, smoking chimneys, animals and walls after walls after walls. As always, the specifics are dependant upon the weather, a short climb up to Blue Scar or Yew Cogar Scar if the weather is nice or a walk along the river Skirfare to capture the flowing water against the gorgeous hills that surround it. As always, I talk to you about what can be done in post processing after you've maximised the amount of digital data in your source image - £45 4hrs. Please contact me to reserve a place

Friday 18th July 2014 7pm - Bolton Abbey, Skipton - Sunset 16:42

At this time of year the vegetation is non existent and the need to have a solid subject in your photography is a must, Bolton Abbey does exactly that, forms an anchor from which to build your composition around, or not! in some cases, but in February, here, it might be snow covered, muddy, great light, bad light, you never know, keeping the river, stepping stones and Abbey in the frame will help us if we don't get some spectacular weather. As always, I talk to you about what can be done in post processing after you've maximised the amount of digital data in your source image - £45 4hrs. Please contact me to reserve a place

Monday 3rd March 2014 10am - Langdale, Tarn Hows & Coniston, Lake District - Sunset 17:41

Get the best from the Lakes, Classic Mountain photos and Waterfalls technique, towards the end of the wintery weather, capturing the transition that happens between seasons is not to be missed. There's many options we can take in depending on the weather, rain, snow or shine, the area between Langdale and Coniston is an area I know well and has a lot to offer. Meltwater can make streams burst with white water and are great to capture against the backdrop of the mountains. Tarn Hows is high up and, perched above it, we can grab classic Lake District photos for the archive if the light is great. Options for grey and dull weather include being next to the lake at Coniston Water where we can work on long exposures and simple compositions. The river Rothay is also an excellent place to be no matter what time of day it is and sunlit mountain tops provide great opportunities for your photos.
